Medication Management FAQ
Learn more about medication management
What is medication management?
Medication management is ongoing psychiatric care focused on finding the right medication, at the right dose, for your specific needs. It includes an initial evaluation, thoughtful prescribing, and regular follow up visits to track how you are feeling, monitor for side effects, and adjust as needed. Our goal is steady progress and a plan that fits your life.
Who will I see for medication management?
Your care is provided by Mical Pacheco, our board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. She is the clinician who sees every patient, so she gets to know you and your history personally. Mind Rejuvenation was founded by Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, who serves as our founding physician, while Mical provides your direct psychiatric care. Your treatment plan is built around you and reviewed collaboratively so you always understand the why behind your care.
What conditions do you treat?
We work with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, and other mood and mental health conditions. If medication is not the right fit for your situation, we will tell you honestly and help you find the next step.
What ages do you see?
We provide care for patients ages 4 and up, including young children, teens, and adults. Our youngest patients receive an age appropriate evaluation designed for their developmental stage, so care always fits the child in front of us.
Do you offer services in Spanish?
Yes. We provide bilingual care in English and Spanish so you can talk about your mental health in the language you are most comfortable with.
What happens at my first appointment?
Your first visit is a psychiatric evaluation. We take time to understand your history, symptoms, goals, and any medications you have tried before. From there we build an individualized plan together. Plan for this appointment to be longer than a typical follow up.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Please bring a photo ID, your insurance card if you are using insurance, a list of your current medications and doses, and any relevant records or prior provider information. Coming with a few notes about your symptoms and what you hope to improve is always helpful. For young children, a parent or legal guardian should attend.
How often are follow up appointments?
It depends on your plan. Early on, visits are often more frequent so we can fine tune your medication. Once you are stable, follow ups are usually scheduled every one to three months. Your provider will recommend a rhythm that fits your needs.
How long until my medication starts working?
This varies by medication and person. Some medications work within days, while others take several weeks to reach full effect. We stay in close contact during this period, and we ask you to be patient and honest with us so we can adjust when needed.
What if a medication is not working or causes side effects?
Tell us. Finding the right fit is often a process, and side effects or a lack of improvement are important information, not failures. Reach out through the patient portal or your appointment so we can adjust your plan safely rather than stopping on your own.
Do you prescribe controlled medications, like stimulants for ADHD?
When they are clinically appropriate, yes. Medications such as stimulants are prescribed following a proper evaluation and in line with clinical guidelines and Oklahoma state law. We cannot guarantee a specific medication before an evaluation, and our focus is always on what is safe and effective for you.
How do refills work?
Refills are managed during your regular follow up visits, which is why staying current with appointments matters. If you are running low, contact us early through the patient portal so we can avoid any gaps in your care.
Do you offer telehealth or in person visits?
We offer both. Many patients use a combination of in person and telehealth visits depending on their needs and their treatment plan. Certain medications and visit types may require an in person appointment.
Can I do medication management and therapy together?
Absolutely. Medication and therapy often work best together. We can coordinate with your current therapist or help connect you with trusted providers in the community.
What if medication alone is not enough?
For patients who have not found relief with standard treatments, we offer additional options such as Spravato and IV ketamine therapy. If these may be a fit for you, we will discuss them during your care.
What insurance do you accept?
We accept most major insurance plans, along with SoonerCare through select plans, and we also welcome self pay, HSA, and FSA. Because coverage varies, we recommend calling us to confirm your specific plan before your first visit.

Can I bring someone with me?

Is treatment covered by insurance?
SPRAVATO® is often covered by insurance. IV Ketamine may not be, depending on your provider. Our team will help you verify coverage and explore payment options.

Will I be able to work or drive after treatment?
No. For IV Ketamine and SPRAVATO® treatments you will need to rest after your session and arrange for someone to drive you home. Most patients resume normal activities the following day.
Do I need to stop taking my current medications?
Not necessarily. Your provider will review your current medications to ensure there are no interactions. Always consult your prescribing physician before making changes.
